Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, May 27 (Reporter Mei Changwei) — A thematic conference on deepening armament with Xi Jinping's Thought on Strengthening the Military (深化习近平强军思想武装专题会议) was held in Beijing on the 27th. Central Military Commission Vice Chairman Zhang Shengmin attended the conference and delivered remarks. He emphasized the need to persistently arm the mind with, guide practice with, and advance work through Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; to comprehensively and accurately study and grasp, and unwaveringly implement, Xi Jinping's Thought on Strengthening the Military; and to drive the entire military to welcome the centenary of the founding of the army with a wholly new political bearing (崭新政治面貌).

Zhang Shengmin noted that efforts must be made to continuously deepen theoretical armament (理论武装), uphold the unity of arming thought and transforming thought (武装思想与改造思想相统一), consolidate the foundation of ideals and convictions, connect theory to reality to resolve problems and promote development, and translate the results of study into concrete action in firmly upholding the "Two Establishments" (两个确立), resolutely achieving the "Two Safeguards" (两个维护), and implementing the system of CMC Chairman responsibility (军委主席负责制). The political responsibility of managing thought and grasping study must be shouldered; the model for organizing and conducting study must be improved; the quality and effectiveness of forging the soul and cultivating people (铸魂育人) must be raised; propaganda and elucidation must be strengthened; and theoretical armament must be driven to go deeper and be more substantive.
