PLA Daily, Juba, May 22 — Reported by Lu Jinfang and Yang Shiwei: Recently, officers and soldiers of China's 12th Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to South Sudan (Juba) completed a short-range patrol mission from the capital Juba to the Tombek area, carried out under the authorization of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and by order of the Juba Sector.
The patrol covered a total round-trip distance of approximately 260 kilometers. The peacekeeping infantry battalion deployed personnel and relevant equipment across multiple specialties, including infantry, medical, and equipment repair and recovery. To ensure the mission was conducted safely and smoothly, officers and soldiers conducted multiple rounds of command deduction (指挥推演) focused on the patrol area prior to departure, comprehensively collected and assessed information on the military situation, social conditions, public sentiment, and natural environment along the route, and optimized the organization of escort forces. During the patrol, our peacekeeping officers and soldiers coordinated closely with United Nations military observers, ultimately completing the mission successfully and receiving commendation from UNMISS and the Juba Sector.
This mission comprehensively tested the peacekeeping infantry battalion's capabilities in command coordination, handling of special situations (特情处置), and comprehensive support, accumulating valuable experience and laying a solid foundation for the execution of subsequent missions.
