Tiered and Interconnected, Functionally Complementary, Jointly Linked and Shared — Rocket Force Steadily Advances Construction of a Training Venue System
PLA Daily report by special correspondent Li Bingfeng: Relying on layered mountain ranges to conduct nearby basic training such as individual-soldier and individual-equipment operations; charging across desert wastelands to carry out combined-arms training (合成训练) with all elements and all processes, including fire assault; transferring to multi-branch training grounds to integrate into joint exercises and training (联演联训) across the "three services" (三军)… In early summer, units subordinate to the Rocket Force have unfurled vivid "training scenes" one after another. This is the new landscape brought about by the Rocket Force's exploration and construction of a training venue system that is tiered and interconnected (层次衔接), functionally complementary (功能互补), and jointly linked and shared (联动共享).
Training venue construction is the foundational project of the training domain and a guarantee for combat capability generation. In recent years, the Rocket Force, based on the "basic—combined-arms—joint" combat capability generation pathway (基础—合成—联合战斗力生成路径), has sorted and compiled training venue requirements. Following the approach of building on existing resources, leveraging the entire military, designing systemically, integrating combat and training (战训融合), and achieving intensive sharing, it has categorically integrated various resources including traditional common training grounds, specialized technical training grounds, and tactical training grounds, and has pressed ahead with improving the support conditions for combat-training venues, providing a solid foundation for units at all levels to carry out realistic combat training (实战化练兵) in a thorough manner.
"In the process of constructing, managing, and using training venues, we have abandoned the simple and extensive approach of linear growth and are actively exploring a high-quality development model of intensive optimization and general-purpose sharing (集约集优、通用共享)." A leader from the Rocket Force's training department introduced that, on one hand, they have broken down barriers between unit establishments, reinforced the concepts of centralized unified construction, regional joint construction, and functional integrated construction (集中统建、区域合建、功能套建), and promoted practices such as one venue for multiple uses, one room for multiple uses, and one depot for multiple uses, substantially increasing the utilization rate of training venues. On the other hand, they have complementarily improved support conditions for combined-arms training, live-force confrontation (实兵对抗), and other combat-training activities; scientifically demonstrated and newly built several regional-level training grounds that complement the advantages of existing resources; and have progressively opened up a path of cross-theater command and cross-service open sharing, powerfully supporting various types of training including large-scale unit maneuver and realistic combat field operations (实战化野战化), and maximizing the comprehensive support effectiveness of training venues.
New concepts for construction, management, and use have generated new changes on the training ground. A certain newly formed missile brigade previously had its training progress affected by insufficient training venues. Now, they need only submit phased requirements to higher-level organs and can "take the field unburdened" (轻装上阵). Looking through the annual training plan of another missile brigade, the reporter found that they not only share training venues with neighboring units to conduct training, but also dispatch forces along multiple routes to travel far to the northern forest sea (北国林海) and plateau wastelands to be tempered and hardened, forging the "great-power swordsmanship" (大国剑法) to defeat the enemy in environments of different regions and different weather conditions.
Today's training grounds forge elite troops; tomorrow's battlefields will showcase their prowess. From the vast desert wastelands to the deep mountain forests, from the snow-covered plateau to the seaside, the reporter, visiting the Rocket Force's training grounds one by one, observed that the broad ranks of officers and soldiers, oriented toward winning future wars, are conducting training and exercises in depth, and the units' realistic combat capability level (实战化水平) continues to climb.
