Partition Doors Block the Line of Sight, Yet Draw Soldiers' Hearts Closer
A certain brigade of the Rocket Force conducts a "follow-up review" (回头看) to complete the "second chapter" of serving the grassroots — Camp phone booths fitted with doors; officers and soldiers make calls without worry

"Ever since the camp phone booths were fitted with partition doors, chatting with family feels so much more relaxed." Recently, at the entrance to a camp phone booth of a certain Rocket Force brigade, Staff Sergeant First Class Han Wei, who had just finished a call with his family, was all smiles. He told the reporter: "The partition doors block the line of sight, yet draw soldiers' hearts closer, and they reflect the organization's care and the transformation in the work style of the headquarters organs."
This heartwarming change is a vivid illustration of the brigade party committee practicing the correct view of political achievement (正确政绩观) and improving the quality and effectiveness of service to officers and soldiers.
Last year, headquarters organ cadres of the brigade discovered during research visits that, due to geographical and environmental factors at a certain mission post, officers and soldiers were unable to use smartphones and could not make video calls with their families. Because the duration of mission execution was relatively long, many officers and soldiers hoped the problem could be resolved as soon as possible. After careful deliberation, the brigade party committee decided that, on the premise of ensuring secrecy and security, video phones would be installed at the mission post. Before long, eight camp phone booths were established at frontline grassroots units, and officers and soldiers offered widespread praise.
Good things take time. This year, since the launch of the study and education campaign on establishing and practicing the correct view of political achievement (树立和践行正确政绩观), the brigade party committee has advanced study, inspection, and rectification in an integrated manner, taking concrete service to the grassroots as the breakthrough point, making vigorous efforts to correct deviations in the view of political achievement, and organizing headquarters organ cadres to go deep into frontline grassroots units to conduct a "follow-up review." What Section Chief Zheng of the headquarters organs saw at the mission post gave him a jolt: it was rest time, and the camp phone booths he had expected to be bustling were instead deserted, with some equipment even covered in a layer of dust.
With questions in mind, Section Chief Zheng immediately organized a forum with grassroots officer and soldier representatives and found the reason: "The booths have no partitions. Sometimes you have to make calls face-to-face with your comrades, which feels very awkward."
After one round of "follow-up reviews," many headquarters organ cadres encountered similar "half-finished project" (半截子工程) problems. "When headquarters organs do practical things, they must do them in a way that truly resonates with officers and soldiers — they must complete the 'second chapter' of tracking outcomes and effectiveness." The brigade's leadership told the reporter that recently they have carefully studied and implemented the spirit of Chairman Xi's important speech at the rally commemorating the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, gained a deep understanding of the clear problem orientation and profound people-centered sentiments (为民情怀) contained in Xi Jinping's thought on Party building, and — in conjunction with the study and education campaign — carefully sorted through the problems collected during the "follow-up review," organized party committee members and headquarters organ cadres to conduct thorough introspection and analysis, and vigorously rectified the tendency toward hollow (虚), superficial (飘), and crude (粗) approaches in the process of serving the grassroots.
At the same time, the brigade has actively established a closed-loop mechanism of "precise matching of needs, multi-party review of projects, routine supervision of progress, and follow-up verification of outcomes," ensuring that good things are truly done well and practical matters are truly handled in a practical way.
Today, the partition doors fitted one by one in the camp phone booths ensure the privacy of officers' and soldiers' calls. More and more officers and soldiers are walking into the booths to make video calls with their families, sharing interesting moments from daily life and unburdening their hearts. "When the organization sincerely resolves difficulties, officers and soldiers devote themselves wholeheartedly to combat readiness. Now everyone has fewer nagging problems, their morale is smoother, and their drive is stronger." A cadre from one of the brigade's battalions gave voice to the sentiments of grassroots officers and soldiers.
As the study and education campaign continues to deepen, the brigade party committee leadership and headquarters organ cadres are proactively going to the frontline to listen to soldiers' voices, establishing credibility through action (徙木立信) by resolving concrete problems, and winning the trust of officers and soldiers and establishing their image and authority through solid, tangible work results.
