Xinhua News Agency, Urumqi, August 1 (Reporters Pan Ying and Zhou Shengbin) — On the occasion of the 99th founding anniversary of the People's Liberation Army, the Xinjiang Revolutionary Military Museum, which carries Xinjiang's red history and passes on the spirit of border defense (戍边精神), held its opening ceremony on August 1.
The Xinjiang Revolutionary Military Museum is located in Urumqi, Xinjiang. The main structure has a floor area of 10,000 square meters, with an exhibition area of 6,500 square meters. Exhibits include more than 23,000 pieces (sets) of collection artifacts, more than 1,500 pieces (items) of documentary photographs, and dozens of groups of themed sculptures, restored scenes, oil paintings, reliefs, and other works, presenting a comprehensive and three-dimensional display of the glorious course of the Chinese Communist Party's leadership of revolutionary struggle among the various ethnic groups of Xinjiang.
The museum features one permanent exhibition, two thematic exhibitions, and one thematic display zone. The permanent exhibition, themed "Red Stars Illuminate the Tianshan — History of the Chinese Communist Party's Leadership of Revolutionary Military Affairs in Xinjiang," is divided into four sections presenting the glorious course of the Chinese Communist Party's leadership of revolutionary struggle in Xinjiang and the mission and tasks carried out by garrison forces in Xinjiang to strengthen border defenses, consolidate the frontier, stabilize Xinjiang, and promote its development (强边固防、稳疆兴疆). The two thematic exhibitions are themed "Love Our People, Love Our Military" and "Forever in the Embrace of the Motherland," respectively; the thematic display zone is themed Xinjiang Military Geography (新疆兵要地志).
The Xinjiang Revolutionary Military Museum is open to the public on a regular basis. Members of the public may make real-name reservations to visit through the "Karakoram Guardian (喀喇昆仑卫士)" WeChat official account.
