Today is Army Day (八一建军节). Officers and soldiers throughout the armed forces and the People's Armed Police celebrated the 99th founding anniversary of the People's Liberation Army in a variety of forms, inspiring officers and soldiers to carry forward the red gene (红色基因) and remain resolute in strengthening the military to defend the homeland.

From the snow-covered plateau to the shores of the East China Sea, from revolutionary sacred sites to field training grounds, officers and soldiers stood in formation and renewed their military oaths. All expressed their determination to concentrate efforts on training for war preparedness, to sleep with weapons at the ready (枕戈待旦) and guard the peace of the motherland.

Zhu Bin, a regiment of the Xinjiang Military District: The main purpose of organizing this oath renewal activity is to have everyone look back on the road traveled, see clearly the road underfoot, and firm up the road ahead. To further purify faith, forge the military soul (铸牢军魂), so that this force, at any time and under any circumstances, is absolutely loyal, absolutely pure, and absolutely reliable.

Each unit drew on the rich revolutionary red resources of its garrison area, organizing officers and soldiers to visit revolutionary memorial halls and education bases, to revisit the glorious history (峥嵘历史), pay tribute to revolutionary martyrs, and organically combine the tempering of Party character with carrying forward the red gene—steeling their original aspiration for joining the military (入伍初心) by following in the footsteps of their predecessors, and drawing strength to advance the cause of strengthening and revitalizing the military.

Gao Xulei, a unit of the Central Theater Command Air Force: We will carry forward the red bloodline, sharpen our skills in our own posts, hold fast to our combat positions and shoulder our responsibilities, and put the oath to strengthen the military into practice through concrete actions.

In Beijing, Liaoning, Xinjiang, and other locations, military-civilian support (双拥) cultural performances and Army Day goodwill shows were staged in succession. Garrison officers and soldiers joined cultural workers to tell red stories, sing red songs, and extol the red spirit. Every performance and every melody paid tribute to history and to heroes.
