Joint Logistic Support Force No. 984 Hospital Trains 'Psychological Guardians' for System-Affiliated Units
Joint Logistic Support Force No. 984 Hospital Extends Psychological Services to the Grassroots Level, Training Psychological Backbone Personnel for System-Affiliated Units
PLA Daily News, reported by Wen Cui and Zhang Suting: "The relaxed and engaging psychological games not only closed the distance between trainees and instructors, but also helped us quickly grasp the methods and techniques for conducting psychological counseling." Recently, Joint Logistic Support Force No. 984 Hospital organized a concentrated training session for psychological backbone personnel (心理骨干) from system-affiliated units (体系部队), and the diverse teaching methods left participants with a refreshing new impression.
"Psychological backbone personnel are the 'psychological guardians' (心理卫士) of grassroots officers and soldiers, and are also an important force in strengthening grassroots construction." Hospital leadership explained that as major missions for the troops have grown increasingly numerous and the pace of work has grown increasingly fast, some officers and soldiers are prone to problems such as irritability, anxiety, and emotional fluctuations. However, some grassroots units face practical difficulties such as personnel shortages and weak capacity in carrying out psychological work, making it difficult to meet the psychological service needs of officers and soldiers. To address this, they regularly organize psychological backbone training sessions to cultivate for system-affiliated units a psychological backbone force with a solid professional foundation and strong overall quality.
During the training, the hospital invited military and civilian psychological experts to provide instruction, and through psychological assessment practicals, group training, stress-relief salons (减压沙龙), scenario simulations, and group drills, helped psychological backbone personnel achieve proficient command of practical skills including emotional counseling, stress regulation, and crisis intervention. "Through professional training, we not only filled the gaps in our theoretical knowledge, but also learned practical and effective hands-on methods. We will bring what we have learned back to the grassroots level and apply it at our combat posts, serving as 'confidants' (知心人) to the comrades around us and using professional skills to safeguard everyone's physical and mental health," said one psychological backbone trainee from a certain detachment.
"Extending the reach of psychological services to the frontline grassroots level, to build a solid psychological line of defense (心理防线) for strengthening the cohesion of the force and enhancing combat effectiveness." Hospital leadership explained that going forward, they will continue to optimize and improve the training model, routinely organize tiered and categorized training for psychological backbone personnel, and work to break through the 'last mile' (最后一公里) of psychological services for grassroots units.
