China's 12th Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to South Sudan (Juba) completed a joint short-duration patrol with UNMISS military observers and civilian personnel from Juba to Terekeka, covering more than 170 kilometers round-trip during the rainy season under muddy road conditions and heavy rainfall. The battalion commander framed the mission as a test of 特情处置 (special-situation handling) and integrated support across infantry, medical, and equipment repair specialties. This is standard peacekeeping operational reporting; its value is as a baseline record of how the 12th rotation documents combined-arms readiness and solicits positive UNMISS assessments for domestic military media.

PLA Daily report by Wang Shuai and Yang Shiwei: Recently, China's 12th Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to South Sudan (Juba), acting under the authorization of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and the orders of the Southern Sector, safely and efficiently completed a joint short-duration patrol mission from Juba to Terekeka in coordination with UN military observers and civilian personnel.

The patrol covered a total round-trip distance of more than 170 kilometers and carried a high level of security risk. Prior to departure, the task detachment conducted multiple rounds of thorough rehearsals, comprehensively collected and assessed information on the security situation, social conditions, and natural environment along the route, and formulated contingency plans for possible emergencies.

During the patrol, South Sudan was in its rainy season, with sustained high temperatures and humidity. Roads along the route were soft and muddy, and passage conditions were severe. The patrol convoy was suddenly caught in heavy rainfall en route, further compounding the risks and difficulty of passage. Officers and soldiers of the detachment maintained a high state of alert and tactical formation throughout, coordinating closely and responding calmly to ensure the patrol operation continued without interruption. The professional competence demonstrated by the officers and soldiers earned high commendation from UNMISS and the Southern Sector.

The battalion commander stated that the mission deployed combined capabilities across multiple specialties — including infantry, medical, and equipment repair — comprehensively testing the officers and soldiers' abilities in handling special situations (特情处置) and providing integrated support, and accumulating valuable experience for subsequently carrying out peacekeeping missions to a high standard.
