The Kameisitai Border Defense Company of the Xinjiang Military Region uses military working dogs to support patrols across nearly 100 kilometers of border terrain, and handler Guo Xiaojiang has worked with dog 'Aolong' for six years. This is human-interest content from official military media; its value is as a record of how the PLA frames border defense service to domestic audiences — emphasizing endurance, loyalty, and the handler-animal bond — not as evidence of a capability or posture change.

My Partner "Aolong" and I Guard the Border

■ Yu Bo, Zhang Lu

The Kameisitai Border Defense Company of the Xinjiang Military Region is responsible for patrol and duty missions along nearly one hundred kilometers of border line. The area is vast and sparsely populated, with complex terrain, making military working dogs an indispensable partner for officers and soldiers carrying out patrol and duty missions. The company has dedicated a memorial wall to record information about its military working dogs, as a tribute to these silent comrades-in-arms. Handler Guo Xiaojiang has spent six years guarding the border alongside military working dog "Aolong," and through day after day of training and duty, the two have built a deep mutual trust. Along the long road of border defense, they fight side by side, heal each other, and silently watch over the peace and security of the border.
