Heavy Rainfall Causes Flooding Across Multiple Locations in Northeast China; PLA and People's Armed Police Officers and Soldiers, Militia Rapidly Launch Relief Operations

PLA Daily, Shenyang, July 13 — Affected by Typhoon Bawi, the 9th typhoon of this year, multiple locations in Liaoning and Jilin provinces have experienced heavy rainfall, triggering flood disasters. PLA and People's Armed Police officers and soldiers and militia moved upon orders, rushing to the front lines to conduct emergency rescue and disaster relief operations.
In Shenyang, Liaoning, water levels in the Hunhe River, Xinkai River, and other rivers surged sharply, intensifying the risk of urban flooding and riverbank overflow. The Shenyang Garrison and the People's Armed Police Shenyang Detachment activated emergency response plans, organizing officers and soldiers and militia to proceed to affected areas to carry out rescue operations. A senior citizens' apartment complex in Shenhe District suffered severe waterlogging; the Shenhe District People's Armed Forces Department assembled militia, deployed vehicles and rubber boats, and assisted in evacuating trapped residents. On the afternoon of the 13th, an emergency situation arose at the Yanhaiyingzi section of the Puhe River embankment. More than one hundred officers and soldiers of the People's Armed Police Shenyang Detachment rapidly proceeded to the front line to carry out embankment reinforcement tasks.
Affected by the heavy rainfall, water levels in the Haixin River basin in Fushun, Liaoning, and along the Huifa River in Hailong Town, Meihekou, Jilin, rose rapidly, threatening the lives and property of surrounding residents. The Tonghua Military Sub-district and the People's Armed Police Fushun Detachment dispatched forces to reinforce embankments and conduct levee inspection and hazard clearance.
As of press time, officers and soldiers and militia of the assigned units continued to fight on the front lines of emergency rescue and relief operations, conducting in an orderly manner patrols and watch duties in key areas, personnel evacuation and resettlement, and inspection and handling of emergency situations.
