Party Flag Illuminates Loyal Hearts, Storm and Rain Temper Original Aspirations — The People's Soldiers Fight on the Front Lines of Guangxi Flood Relief
The night is deep, and the rain is still falling. People's Armed Police soldier Tian Peng, a rope tied around his waist, slowly advances through the floodwaters, dragging a rubber dinghy behind him. The dinghy carries disaster-affected residents he and his comrades rescued from Pingxin Village, Jiulong Town, Qinnan District, Qinzhou City, Guangxi Province. Days earlier, Typhoon "Maysak" made a direct strike on Qinzhou, inundating multiple villages in Jiulong Town, and the PAP Guangxi Corps Qinzhou Detachment rapidly dispatched rescue forces. "I have good physical strength and I'm a strong swimmer — please let me go to the most dangerous place!" At the mission site, probationary Party member Tian Peng proactively volunteered to the temporary Party branch, then immediately set out with his comrades in rubber dinghies toward the hardest-hit locations to conduct search and rescue.

Affected by the 10th typhoon of 2026, "Maysak," Nanning, Guigang, Fangchenggang, Qinzhou, Yulin, Hechi, and other areas of Guangxi have suffered flooding and waterlogging in recent days. PLA and PAP officers and soldiers, along with militia reserve personnel, moved upon receiving orders and rushed to provide assistance. Party member backbone personnel took the lead in wading through deep water and battling fierce currents, conducting door-to-door inspections and search-and-rescue operations, charging to the front lines of disaster relief.

After险情 [an emergency situation] emerged at the Hengzhou Liulan Reservoir, the first contingent of emergency militia from the Hengzhou City People's Armed Forces Department pressed into the core disaster area to conduct search and rescue. Among them, a vanguard rescue squad composed of five Party members proactively took on the search-and-rescue mission in key water areas, driving assault boats to inspect each household for trapped residents.

During the rescue operation, one rescue team member's wrist was cut by an underwater obstacle. "I am a Party member — a minor wound is no reason to leave the front line." After simple suturing, militia Party member Qin Guiyuan remained at the disaster relief front line, putting into practice the responsibility of a Party member.
Meanwhile, the Guangxi Military District established an emergency command post to coordinate the Nanning Garrison, Fangchenggang Military Sub-district, Liuzhou Military Sub-district, Yulin Military Sub-district, Hechi Military Sub-district, and Laibin Military Sub-district, mobilizing a total of more than 5,000 militia personnel to participate in and support disaster relief operations across various locations.

The PAP Guangxi Corps Nanning Detachment rescue force rushed overnight in an emergency to Yunbiao Town, Hengzhou City. Company commander Rao Bingzhao led Party member backbone personnel as the first to enter Yunbiao Town to conduct search and rescue. He and his comrades overcame numerous difficulties, fighting continuously, and successively rescued more than 50 people.
Currently, floodwater levels in Yunbiao Town have dropped. He left some rescue personnel behind to participate in silt-clearing and reconstruction, and personally led a team through flood-surging river sections to press deeper into Yunbiao Town, where many villagers remain trapped. They will continue conducting search and rescue and delivering supplies to ensure that not a single trapped resident is left behind.

Xiasanlang Village and Hantang Village in Huashi Town, Fangcheng District, Fangchenggang City suffered severe disaster. The PAP Guangxi Corps Fangchenggang Detachment urgently deployed 53 officers and soldiers to carry out emergency rescue operations with full force.
Company commander Chen Jiewu had been preparing for a military skills competition in the preceding period and had not yet recovered from a training injury. The company originally intended to have him remain behind, but he insisted on leading the Party member assault team to charge to the front line. He said: "When Typhoon 'Rammasun' made a direct landfall on Fangchenggang in 2014, I was already a member of the Party member assault team — I absolutely cannot be absent this time!"

Water levels in multiple rivers within Guigang City have continued to exceed warning levels, with serious overbank flooding and waterlogging, and the overall flood prevention and control situation across the entire area is severe. The Southern Theater Command Army deployed more than one thousand officers and soldiers in an emergency response.
More than 10,000 teachers and students were trapped in the Guigang Education Park. The park is situated in a low-lying river valley, and the roads leading to it were swallowed by floodwaters, making it one of the most difficult areas to rescue. After receiving the rescue order, a brigade of the Southern Theater Command Army rapidly organized multiple "Party member assault boat" squads for an emergency rescue mission.

The assault boats cut through the turbid floodwaters. The moment the mud-covered officers and soldiers appeared, many of the trapped teachers and students on the teaching building and dormitory balconies had reddened eyes. Students shouted: "The PLA is here! The PLA is here!" (Chen Xiaojie, Wang Qing)
