PLA and People's Armed Police Officers and Soldiers, Militia Carry Out Emergency Rescue Operations at Full Strength

PLA Daily, Nanning, July 7 — Affected by this year's Typhoon No. 10 "Maysak," multiple locations across Guangxi suffered severe flood disasters. The Southern Theater Command resolutely implemented the spirit of Chairman Xi's important instructions, organizing officers and soldiers and militia to rapidly engage in emergency disaster relief operations.
Nanning's Hengzhou City was struck by heavy rainfall, and Liulan Reservoir and Yunbiao Reservoir encountered dangerous conditions. The Nanning Garrison Command adjusted its deployment overnight in response to the situation of floodwaters continuing to flow downstream due to heavy rainfall, urgently dispatching additional militia to search for and evacuate trapped residents. The PAP Nanning Detachment deployed forces to conduct joint military-civilian sector search operations by area, carrying out dragnet-style inspections household by household.
As the typhoon struck, water levels in multiple rivers within Guigang City surged dramatically, with serious overtopping and waterlogging. On the 7th, the Southern Theater Command Army deployed more than one thousand officers and soldiers along with engineering rescue vehicles and medical ambulances, carrying equipment and materiel to Guigang to conduct emergency rescue operations. More than one thousand militia from the Guigang Military Sub-district rushed overnight to key flood-prevention areas to reinforce embankments, seal leakage points, and drain floodwaters and clear obstructions. The PAP Guigang Detachment organized its forces into multiple rescue echelons, working jointly with local rescue forces to evacuate residents, investigate hazards, and transport supplies.
Affected by heavy rainfall compounded by upstream flood discharge, the Yujiang River water level at the Xiaojiang Bridge section in Gangbei District, Guigang City rose rapidly, with river water overtopping the embankments. The Liuzhou Military Sub-district, Yulin Military Sub-district, Hechi Military Sub-district, Laibin Military Sub-district, and other units dispatched 3,500 militia to advance to the front and conduct rescue operations. The PAP Guangxi Corps urgently dispatched an additional 500 officers and soldiers to the scene, deploying by area to carry out embankment patrol and protection, dangerous-condition inspection, and accumulated-water drainage operations.
After the typhoon passed, the PAP Fangchenggang Detachment drew on its best forces to clear silt and remove obstructions using an area-based responsibility approach, helping the people restore their production and daily life order. The PAP Qinzhou Detachment deployed forces to undertake support tasks at temporary resettlement sites in severely affected villages and towns, with military and civilian sectors coordinating to ensure the basic livelihoods of disaster-affected residents. As of press time, officers and soldiers and militia of the task forces continued to fight on without pause in the affected areas, minimizing casualties to the greatest extent possible and guarding against secondary disasters.

PLA Daily, Wuhan, July 7 — On the evening of July 6, affected by severe convective weather, heavy rainfall and thunderstorm-force winds struck multiple locations in eastern Hubei, with tornadoes occurring in some townships. Garrison troops and militia responded swiftly upon receiving the news and launched emergency disaster relief operations. The military sub-districts and people's armed forces departments of Huanggang, Huangshi, and Ezhou deployed militia and vehicles, with military and civilian sectors working together to investigate dangerous conditions, repair roads, rescue trapped residents, and transport daily necessities. Officers and soldiers of the PAP Huanggang Detachment rushed to the scene carrying rubber boats and other equipment, completing two phases of search-and-rescue operations overnight and rescuing 15 trapped residents.
PLA Daily, Gansu Dangchang, July 7 — On the morning of July 7, a landslide occurred in Renzang Village, Nanhe Town, Dangchang County, Longnan City, Gansu Province, trapping multiple residents. The Gansu Provincial Military District dispatched an emergency command group to the front lines to guide rescue operations. The Dangchang County People's Armed Forces Department simultaneously dispatched militia, who rapidly engaged in emergency rescue operations carrying equipment.
The Western Theater Command Joint Operations Command Center activated its emergency response and directed forces to rapidly ascertain the disaster situation. The Xining Joint Logistics Support Center determined the inventory of supplies needed for rescue operations, and units including the Joint Logistics Support Force's 940th Hospital and 941st Hospital promptly assembled their personnel and made preparations for rescue operations.
As of press time, officers and soldiers and militia of the task forces, in coordination with local rescue forces, continued to carry out on-site search and rescue, resident evacuation, and road-clearing operations.
