A PLA Navy formation comprising the missile destroyer Nanning and the missile frigate Hengyang will conduct a port visit to Hong Kong from July 2–6, including public ship tours and cultural exchange events targeting Hong Kong and Macao residents. The visit fits the recurring pattern of PLA naval presence in Hong Kong as a domestic legitimacy exercise — using named surface combatants to make the military tangible to a civilian audience the central government continues to court after 2019. The choice of a destroyer-frigate pairing rather than a single vessel extends the visual scale of the display beyond previous comparable visits and raises the question of whether the formation composition is calibrated to the current political moment.

From July 2 to 6, a naval vessel formation composed of the missile destroyer Nanning and the missile frigate Hengyang will visit Hong Kong to organize a series of open visiting and cultural exchange activities, allowing compatriots in Hong Kong and Macao to understand in a more direct and in-depth manner the state of national defense and military construction and development in the new era.
