PLA Daily report by Yang Biao and Deng Yifan: Recently, the Chinese 3rd Batch Peacekeeping Quick Reaction Force deployed to Abyei organized a fire drill within the garrison area, further strengthening the safety awareness of the force's officers and soldiers and enhancing their emergency response and incident-handling capabilities (应急处突能力).
"Reporting to the duty room — a fire has broken out on the west side of the vehicle park due to aging electrical wiring…" Upon receiving the report, the quick reaction force rapidly activated its emergency fire response plan. The command group, security group, medical group, and other elements quickly assembled and rushed to the "fire scene" carrying firefighting equipment to carry out response operations. At the drill site, the observation group used unmanned aerial vehicles to survey the "fire scene," rapidly pinpointing the source of the fire and the direction of its spread, providing a basis for command decision-making. The firefighting group split into two teams: one team used fire extinguishers to suppress the main fire point, while the other team operated portable equipment to control the fire on the flanks. Officers and soldiers moved with practiced skill and coordinated seamlessly, effectively containing the spread of the fire.
"One person is 'burned and unconscious.'" Upon receiving the notification, the medical group swiftly administered emergency bandaging and cardiopulmonary resuscitation to the "casualty," then safely transferred the individual by stretcher to the medical area. The entire process was tense yet orderly, demonstrating the officers and soldiers' solid professional skills.
"The mission area is currently experiencing high temperatures and extreme heat, electricity consumption has increased, and fire hazards have increased accordingly. This drill not only strengthened our fire prevention awareness but also enhanced our emergency response and incident-handling capabilities (应急处突能力)," said the force commander.
